Meet the New Principal of Lawrence Elementary

Jose Peterson Torres is a U.S. Army veteran and bilingual educational leader with more than a decade in Mesquite ISD. Most recently, he served as assistant principal at Woolley Middle School, leading initiatives to support emergent bilingual students, strengthen data practices and expand professional development. He previously served as assistant principal at Berry Middle School and taught at both Berry Middle and McWhorter Elementary Schools.

Torres began his career as a bilingual elementary teacher in Dallas ISD. He holds a master’s degree in educational leadership and policy studies from the University of Texas at Arlington and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Inter American University of Puerto Rico.
